Sustainable Biodiversity at Green Park, Reading

Located near Junction 11 of the M4 Motorway on the outskirts of Reading is Green Park; a 195-acre site providing first class office buildings with solid ‘green’ credentials. An impressive green icon is the UK’s most visible wind turbine, standing 85m with 70m diameter rotors.

Green Park was initially developed by Prudential Property Investment, and has been owned by Oxford Properties since 2012. Geosynthetic Technology Limited was involved in the original development stages of the project - designing, supplying and installing Gas Barrier Membrane systems to several of the office sites. Our work was undertaken for our Client, PP Construction.

PP Construction contacted Geosynthetic Technology Limited again during the summer of 2014, to discuss refurbishment of a leaking lake adjacent to one of the
office buildings. We were pleased to work with PP Construction to design, supply, install and commission a new geomembrane lining system for the unsightly lake.

Installation was undertaken at the end of January and beginning of February 2015, despite occasional subzero temperatures. Following removal and disposal of the leaking liner, we utilised an Exceliner LLD 1.5mm geomembrane laid onto a protective 6200N geotextile underlay. The benefits of using Exceliner LLD include its inherent flexibility and mechanical strength. These enable the liner to match random profiles associated with the lake areas as well as vertical edges and structures.

The installed lining system is covered by a bona fide 30-year Performance Warranty together with our Professional Indemnity insurance.
